Microsoft Word Bookmarks

Overview

DoxRunner operations rely heavily on bookmarks. For example there is one bookmark per section within each test case. It uses them to navigate and manipulate the documents while giving the documentor the freedom to present the solution and its test cases to third parties clearly.

If any bookmark is deleted or moved to an inappropriate location, the process may be compromised. Therefore it's useful to make the presence of bookmarks visible.

Accessing bookmarks

Access the bookmarks by pressing the Insert tab and then the Bookmark link as shown in the illustration below. If the Bookmark link isn't displayed, the page may have been narrowed, in which case a Links drop-down will be visible instead. A Bookmark icon can be found there.

As shown in the illustration below, you may get a list of hidden bookmarks, which, in the context of this site, is not useful.

If so, un-select the Hidden bookmarks checkbox to see those that we are interested in.

The illustration below on the left shows those bookmarks associated with the Solution document - they all start with V_. Verify the targets of the bookmarks by selecting each and pressing the Go To button.

The illustration below on the right shows those bookmarks that are associated with test case CEP001. All test case bookmarks start with P_ followed by the Test Case ID.
